Default 69 and 73 frame differances?

I had to change my frame on the 69 and used a great one from a 73. Now i am having a problem mounting the radiator support to the frame. Is there a differance on the front where the frame extensions bolt on. I would really appreciate any pictures of your radiator supports mounted in the 69 small block configuration.

I'm not expert, but yeah, i'm pretty sure they are different. I was looking at a buddies '68 as compared to my '74 and there is a big difference. The largest is the integrated support/vacuum on the '74. This is basically a cross brace that is a fairly large diameter that holds the vacuum. The '68 had an external canister for this. I brought him up my '74 core support and it didn't fit close at all. Mounting points and angles were different.

The '74 frames had provisions for mounting the 5 mph bumper assembly where the '69 did not. The bumper supports for the '74 were bolt on affairs if I remember correctly. The cross member for the '69 rad support bolts to extensions that bolted to the frame horns and not to the frame itself. I've read where guys have modified mid '70's era frames to use in mid-year cars because they were much cheaper despite having to make the mods. I suspect that your '74 frame can be modified to work for your '69 without too much trouble in the hands of a good welder. Perhaps it just needs to be modified to work with the '69 frame extensions and bumper supports.
