78 - 81 T Top Carrier
Has anyone found a source for t top carriers for the 79 to 81 vette? These were the carriers that mounted on the rear deck behind the rear window.

Very, very rare! The fastback design of the later C3's made it relatively easy to store t-tops in the rear storage area -- so that's where they ended up most of the time.

I'm not sure there is a GM top carrier for the 78 and 79 models. I have seen luggage racks advertized as having the lugs to mount the top carrier brackets, but these may have been aftermarket items. Beginning with the 1980 models there was a GM optional rack (V54). The V54 pieces are plastic and fit into mounting points in the rear deck. Because they are plastic, these racks break easily. It's very difficult to find them at the swap meets and expensive when you do. Good Luck.
