I think my other post came out blank because i was using Mozilla.
Anyway,
I need to block incoming air from the air vents. I have an exhuast/header leak which filters through the inside of the car. Is there a sinlge point at which air enters the aircondition/heater system?
As far as I know, the air comes in to the car throught several places. Two are on either side just under the grate in front of the windshield. The intake to the heater/ac is on the passenger side. There is also the possibility that the various seals on the firewall have cracked and are letting air in...
But I can't imagine why you would want to plug the air intakes. You need air to breathe. I would spend my efforts on fixing the exhaust leak. It will be much easier and safer...
If the manifold were coming off, you would hear a very loud sound like a car without mufflers. Since this only happens when the car is hot, I think you might have something dripping on the hot exhaust - like an oil leak or power steering fluid leak. Get the car hot, stop, and pop the hood. If you have something dripping on the exhaust, you will see smoke or steam rising from the area. From that point, you can try to trace the source of the leak. (Just a theory... )
I know for a fact that it is much worse when I accelerate hard. I always thought it was the extra exhaust + air pressure but it may be the high oil pressure. The other day, i notice smoke coming out from under the hood while stopped at the lights. There is nothing on the garage floor, so its only happening when the car is running.
