Default Auto to 4 speed conversion

Does anyone know if a tranny and pedal set up from a '79 will fit a '69?

also what needs to be done with the tranny crossmember and driveshaft?

My memory of 4-speeds is a little fuzzy, but since nobody else is answering, I'll give it a shot.

You'll have to be more specific, what 4-speed? Are you taking it from the 79?

Your '69 should have a TH400 tranny. That has the big output yoke. Most but not all 4-speeds have the small output yoke so you'll have to change it. If you can grab the driveshaft from the 79 that'll work.

I think you'll also need a different crossmember, if the 79 has the two-hole crossmember it'll work. You're in luck in that the automatic cars had removable crossmembers.

Don't know about the pedals.

Yes it will fit. Pedals from 69-80 will interchange. The only thing that might be different is if you have manual brakes, and the 79 had power brakes, the manual brakes will have nuts welded to the bracket where the power brakes one will just have holes in the bracket.

No worries however, if your brackets are different, you can move the clutch pedal assembly to the bracket from your Vette. It is a direct bolt-up thing. I bought a clutch pedal assembly from a 69 Vette and used it in my 78 Vette.

To show what I mean, take a look at my website and click on the "clutch pedal" link. I have shots of the different brackets.

I have everything you need, pedal assembly from 68, z bar, frame bracket for z bar, rod for clutch, you will still need ball for z bar that mounts on block.

email me if interested
