Last year, when i was doing my side exhaust setup...there was a member on the forum here that sent me pics of his stahl setup, and said the fit and finish were perfect and it looked it. For the money, i guess you get what you pay for.

Don't know if they do side exhaust but you may want to check Stans out. http://www.stans-headers.com/

hey redshark, do you still have these pics? or does anyone have pics of a stahl setup? or any setup for that matter. I've wanted headers since I've got the car, and may have the money soon here, after I sell one of my cars...

I have the Stahls. You can get with raised or std. port heads. Mine have 4" collectors, but I think you can get 3 1/2" collectors too. The fit and workmanship are first rate, but I don't think you will get stock covers over them.

Well I'll tell you this, I built my own headers and I spent $700 on parts alone...

Of course that does include custom flanges and a pile of U bends!

Next step will be to try the C2 side exhaust insulators and covers. I heard you can get a 3 in pipe under there, where you can't on the '69 covers.
Under is a relative term in this case. I've seen 4" o.d. muffs "under" '69 covers, but they were partially visible while standing back from the car.

Stock mufflers are also visable under the covers...

Depends. The one on the driver's side of my car isn't, but the one on the passenger's side droops like a 80 yr old boob.

jughead, yours are the stock mufflers and manifolds, correct? I wonder if mine hang that low. Nobody ever sees it when it's on the ground anyway... Are there any pictures out there of aftermarket?

I had a nice set of pictures showing the Hedman side exhaust
headers on a SB. My home PC drive crashed. If I get them back
soon, I will send them off.

ps - The nicely built 350 that they went onto showed a noticable gain (no numbers). They go to stock 69 mufflers that have since rotted out the baffles.

Yeah, they're the stock pipes. I can see them from the side though. gotta watch to not burn my foot when the engine is running and I'm working on the carb.

3.5 inches of clearance at the front of the pipe.

I also have stock BB manifolds and sidepipes on my 70. I was considering the Stahl headers with 3" collector for a later Phase of Project RamJet 502. Judy Stahl sent me the following pics of their headers mounted on a 65 or 66 for reference. (she was unsure of exact year).
