Default High Oil Pressure

Started the eng for the first time on the chassis. Fired right up.
But, the oil pressure pegged my gauge! 70psi. I only had it running for about 3min. Still didn't drop. Should I be concerned?

10-30. I couldn't run it very long. I did not have the driveshaft on, and the trans yoke was walking out.

Is it a fresh rebuild?

Did you have a high volume - high pressure oil pump installed?

It's a long shot, but maybe a plugged or bad oil filter?

My '68 needs about 15 minutes of driving for the oil pressure to drop to normal levels..

Yes, it is a fresh rebuild. With a high vol oil pump.
I think I'll let it run and warm up. Would assembly lube need to be melted down?
I'll also change out the filter, never know.

Mine is the same way. It always pegs the 80 pound gage when cold. Hot it idles right around 50 pounds and goes above 70 with normal cruising.
I prefer high oil pressure. Makes me feel better.
If yours has the high volumn pump and pegs a 70 pound gage I would be happy.
