1980 L-48 Specs
Does anyone have the specs for the 1980 L-48...
Mains (2 or 4 bolt)
Compression
Piston Type (flat, dome, etc)
Rods
Crank
Also... would appreciate any input on what was different (specs) between the L-48 and L-82. I'm in the process of building my original L-48 and want to learn and understand the differences.
I don't know it all, but here is what I do know. The '80 L48 had 2 bolt mains, dished pistons with 8.5:1 compression. I believe 190 hp was stock. The L82 had 4 bolt mains, higher compression, a different cam and had 215 hp stock.
Pistons and rods are different, too. (We'll let an expert state the exact difference.)
The bottom line is the L82 used better internals (for what it's worth). Neither was a powerhouse during this period, but the L82 starts out as a stouter platform for building HP.
