There are no other passenger car steering columns that can or should be adapted into your C3 Corvette. The 1968 C3 had a unique steering column that will interchange with the 1967 C3. It will not adapt into anything else. All 1969 through 1976 C3 steering columns, regardless if they are standard (non-adjustable) or T&T will interchange between those years.

The 1977 through 1982 columns (with the dimmer switch) can be adapted with somer work to fit into the earlier (1969-76) C3s.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a 69 Vette T&T column that was in a wreck and I need some parts. Do the Eldorado/Toronado columns share any parts? Especially in the upper area?

If you have a "round head" T&T column in your Vette (1969-76) and the Eldo column is also a "round head" there are lots of parts in the steering column head that should interchange. The same goes for a dimmer columns (i.e. bulge on the left side of the head). C3 Vettes from 1977 through 1982 and corresponding Eldo, Toro, Olds T&T columns from that era.

My understanding is that the early Eldo/Toro column is the way to go if you want to do a little fab work. They are shorter overall (very close to the '77-'82 columns), but otherwise almost the same. That's all hearsay at this point, but my goal is to find one and move that dang steering wheel closer to the dash! I haunt the wrecking yards, but all those cars I've found were either already missing the column, or it had been "destruction derbied" and destroyed.

I am 6'-1" and I have GOT to improve the driving position! Right now I find myself with my knees almost hitting the stock wheel and that same wheel right in my chest. Seat position is whole 'nuther story...

Hans try putting spacers on the front two seat bolts up to 1". It changes the seat position by tilting it slightly rearward. Work wonders. Good Luck

Why not try and install a 1977 or later T&T column? Download this paper for a start: http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/77+Col...3Rev11NO03.doc
