Today our '96 ignition switch would not rotate when the key was inserted. Stranded my wife at the mall. I met her with the spare key set and it, too would not work, until I happened to jiggle it just right to get it to rotate to start.
After getting the car home, I tried 25 times to get it to do it again, to no avail. Don't want to get stranded again, so need some advice on what to look for. The car has the PASSKEY chip in the key, so maybe that has something to do with it. I think it is a measured resistance, or something like that.
Anybody out there an expert on this sort of thing? Is it connected to the ECM in some electronic way?
