I use to work for a company doing fire restoration on houses. I can tell you this. Smoke has acid in it. The acid lands on electrical contacts. It might not appear to have any immediate affect, but over time, all kinds of electrical problems will appear from the corrosive effects on all the elec. contacts in your car. I don't just mean contacts as in wiring harnesses, I mean circuit boards, relays and switches. In an enclosed area such as a car, the effects would be very strong.
Now, here is where I sit back and wait for someone to tell me that they have owned a car that had a small fire and ran for decades. I'm not going to say that isn't possible, but when I worked for that company, any electrical devices in the immediate area of the fire were tossed and replaced. That included anything and everything that ran on electricity.
