It depends on if you're talking about the ignition switch, or the ignition cylinder (where you actually put the key). If it's the switch, all you have to do is remove the two large bolts under the steering column, drop the column, remove the two bolts holding the switch, unplug the wires, and put the new one in. If it's the cylinder, you have to remove the steering wheel. From there I'm not sure, because I believe a '74 is different inside the column than my '79.
