I took off my rear window moulding today because it's cracked, and the rear window just about fell out. (It's a 73 coupe). It was still attached to the black sticky stuff on the bottom and a little on the sides. I removed the window ok, and started looking around on how to reinstall it. I found a window seal kit at Zips, but other than the "rear window tape", I have no idea what the other items are for or how to use them. Has anyone done this before, and could someone explain what "primer, cutting wire and setting blocks" are used for?
This is the description for the seal kit for Zips.
73-77 REAR WINDOW SEAL KIT - FIXED WINDOW
Includes enough sealant to install or reseal your rear window. Includes rear window tape, primer, cutting wire and setting blocks
Now that you have it out, drive it and see what you think.
The removeable 68-72 rear window is a bolt in change.
If you want the stock, then the tape is the seal for the window. The cutting wire is to remove the old window, it saws the tape to get the window out, which you have already done. The setting blocks are for placing under the newly installed window to hold it in place while the tape dries.
Thanks Terry. I have been thinking about the removeable 68-72 rear window as an alternative, but the frame for it seems to be hard to find. I do plan on leaving the window out while the nice weather last. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a 68-72 rear window frame.
