Default 1980 Corvette - electrical problem?

I am having problems with my 1980 L82. After approx 1/2 hour of driving the car will lose all power and shut down. The power becomes so weak that I am not able to even listen to the radio. I must wait approx 1 hour and then I am able to jump start the car. This has happened twice in the past week. I checked the alternator but it was fine. I replaced the battery but same problem occurred. I am completely lost. I don't know what this could be. Any thoughts/help?

Thanks,

GHOOD

How did you check the alternator? Unless I miss my guess, you have a bad alternator. It's not charging the battery.

I agree with rechecking the alternator... also should check your ground...

Default Checked the alternator

I took the alternator out of the car and had it tested at 2 different locations. Both of the folks that tested the alternator indicated that there was nothing wrong with the alternator. If it is a ground problem, any ideas on how to go about finding it?

Get yourself a test light and a multi-meter. Then, just start testing the major grounds. If you get a weak signal, remove them and clean them up. Sorry to say, you are just going to have to work your way through your car. No easy answer for this one.
