Rear Spring Questions
I took the rear ends out from under my 73 & 74 (both base model coupes) the 73 had 9 leaf spring and the 74 had a 7 leaf spring...............which one is right??
Also is it possible to take the spring apart to clean and paint it at home?

If I recall, the 7 leaf unit was included with the Gymkhana (sorry about spelling) suspension on the '74. It has a stiffer spring rate. The 9 leaf was standard on all of the C-3's until the fiberglass units in '82 (me thinks).
If you can get the nut off holding them together, you can clean them up. You can buy the liners. Factory color for the spring should be grey.
Sure you can take them apart and clean them up than reline them. Before you do any of that, think about how they were in the car. Were they flat at all? If the spring is flat, I would take it to a spring company and have them re-arch your spring before you go into all the work. Many vendors, including myself sell spring liners or you can pick them up at your local dealership. I believe they are about $13-$15 per liner.
I took mine apart, and had it sandblasted up here in Aurora.
"Master Blaster" - 905-642-0986 - cheap, works out of his home.
Gonna POR-15 it, along with he rear frame, before putting it back together, but I guess any old spray paint would be fine too.
I went back to steel on my 77, I ordered a 7 leaf but a 9 leaf was shipped instead. I installed the 9 leaf, I also lowered the car with 550 LB coils and longer rear bolts.
I wish now I would have returned the 9 leaf because it feels to soft.
If you plan to lower the car I would use a stiff 7 leaf spring.
