Those lobes don't look wiped to me!

You had an engine builder install that cam too, didn't you?

Too bad the XE series is having so much trouble.

Well, I figured using this title would get more replies,
right now it just looks like pushrods.. one broken, one bent. and a rocker arm over tightened.

but it's a possibility that the cam is wiped..

I wont know till I get it apart

That sucks Cory, what happened? Did you get a knock, noise, running poorly when it failed? Seems to be a lot of Xe failures here. I have about 2,000 miles on Xe268 we installed last year, seems to be ok so far.I'll be sticking with the He260 instead of the Xe262 on the next engine project. Your shop broke in the motor too, right?

I got one hell of a back fire under mild acceleration in 2nd gear.

after that I thought I blew a collector gasket. But something was telling me it was valve train related.

and yeah, thats an Xe 268

Hum, this engine does backfire for no apparent reason every once in a while? Maybe I should have gone with the Magnum series or a Crane!
I'll wait and see how it runs through the Winter.
What are you going to do or have you had enough dealing with Corvettes!

I'd consider a Z06 too. I'm not into the C4 or C5's but I would take a Z06. They ran pretty good at Englishtown last month pretty much stock from what I was told.

they are very impressive.. doesnt take much to make those cars unstopable.

and yes, my engine was broken in on the dyno, forgot to mention that.

You know it kills me that, anytime something goes wrong with a XE cam people always want to blame the cam.

I can't really tell from the pic Cory, but the #8 rocker nut looks to me like it is way to far down on the shaft, indicating an installation error.

Let us know when you get it apart. What is the engine builder going to do about warrenty on this?

I would like to throw in my 2 cents worth. With the lift of the cam you are running I would take a look at the rocker arm slots as the cam might be overdriving the rockers enough that they just barely hit the rocker stud. I had the same thing happen to my engine a number of years ago. I would either bend or break push rods or split rocker arms. You can purchase long slot rockers from chevy or take a drimmel and make the slots a little larger than they are now for more clearance. And you know if you give up the car wins and the car has no brain. .

like I said earlier, i wanted to get the most replies, figured this is a hot topic, and I am running an XE.

But yes, the last rocker does seem a bit farther down on the threads then the others.. and as for warranty.. I have no clue.

Who cares? The cost of the cam, rockers and push rods are the least expensive part.

A full weekend jacking around with a cam swap on a new engine is the big cost.

Thats what I don't get, mfg. of these parts should also pay for the installation not just the replacement.

I agree with you completly, if it's the mfg.'s fault

The way Cory's motor looks either something wasn't installed right, or a lobe was already starting to wear and someone just cranked down on the rocker to try to take up the slack. Either way it shouldn't have been allowed out the door with that problem.

The engine builder should pony up for some labor as this looks to be their fault.

I'm not trying to take up for Comp, but all the bashing here latley seems unfair. The last attemp at a poll had more response from people that were happy with the XE line than not. I don't know how to do a poll so maybe someone else can. It should be who has an XE cam with 2 options wiped a lobe and not wiped a lobe running fine. It would be interesting to see good vs bad.
