There is a thin line between criticism and a personal attack, and I think this post crosses it.

You know you want to laugh..... not a personal attack. I've not said anything aggregious. Just poking fun.

So ole Dep got to you? He just likes to stir sheet up once in a while to keep people awake. He is like the old drunk uncle everyone likes until he gets liqoured up at a family function.

While I don't care much for his posts or attitude, threads like these are uncalled for.

Dep may be controversial at times, and his views not widely shared, but this is a Forum: a place for discussion of often divergent opinions on any given subject.

I am the opposite of Dep: my car is stock, slow and clean. I have never had the urge to rip parts out of it or modify the original design. Dep and I enjoy the Corvette hobby in different ways. That's it, that's all. I see no place here for personal ridicule of a member. And I will bet that Dep has enough class to not even come back with a cheap return shot. There is a huge dividing line between sarcasm, good-natured kidding and a personal attack. I hope the mods pull this one.

Is this an attack on those of us who are a little old?? I don't see why his being retired has anything to do with this. IMO I think this poll is asinine as well as the person who thought it up.

To take Fevre's comments a step further, Dep likes to start ON-TOPIC discussions. If they are not to your liking or you find them uncouth, then you don't have to read them. Just like we don't have to read the OFF-TOPIC BS that is the parasite dragging the C3 forum down.

Well crap,
I didn't realize a joke aimed at someone that doesn't do himself any favors making friends would be so controversial. If Dep really takes offense to this, I'll ask to have it removed. By the way, I hear that Saddam Hussein is looking for an attorney.

Dep has offended me with perceived elitist attitude when he first came to the forum. What I finally figured out, was that he's just an old usenet guy that likes a good argument. He never personally attacked me, though he did attack my car, and responded specifically to most, but not all, points I made (no response if he didn't have a good argument). He may be offensive at times, but he does play by the rules. Life is too short to be offended by stuff on a car forum. Dep has every right to dislike rubber bumpers, and all small blocks but the venerable 302. If you don't agree, either voice your arguments, or don't read his posts. And always remember, his car doesn't run.

you guys are kidding?? Dep offends you?? You think this thread is a personal attack??? more=> Actually, I didn't "get" the first post at all, but I took it as "ball busting", and I am confident that Dep can take it as well as he can dish it out.

Geeeezzzzz..... and next someone will complain that the real problem with this post is that it is off topic... now to compose my backspacing post!

Me, I use LALooks myself, so I would say that it's more useful than LAVetteMan. (kidding!)

I'm pretty sure Dep is thick-skinned enough to take this with a grain of salt. I thought it was funny, although calling his post "asinine" was crossing the line quite a bit.

Can't argue that point. But, I find it rather rude that he starts a post pointing out all the shortcomings of them and finds numerous ways to riducule the cars. We are all here because of our love of our Corvette, regardless of year.

Imagine this, I start a post claiming all Chrome Bumper cars are overpriced and polute the air because of their oversized engines. Or maybe I could pop into the C4 area and tell them that Corvettes lost all their style in '84. (Not how I feel, just a couple of examples) I wouldn't be making any personal attacks, but I sure would be acting poorly towards the owners of these cars. How long do you think that I would last before being labled a troll and sent off on my merry way?

I can't disagree with that either. Definitely rude. But, he hasn't broken any forum rules, and we all have the choice to ignore him or not. I'm choosing to laugh.

Didn't you know? Your car is nothing more than a Caprice with Corvette badges on it.

"Sometimes the truth hurts"

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

Think about those two for a moment and decide which applies to YOU...

FWIW, I'm a moderator on another board and I would've locked this thread at this point.
