Default *UPDATE* PWR Window Troubleshooting...

I was able to pull up several post from the archives on this topic.

Wanted to post this in case someone else experiences the same problem....didn't really fix anything, just one of those electrical gremlins I guess...hope it stays away

As annotated in the post below, my switch was working but my window was not. It just quit, all of a sudden.

I decided the motor was bad and I was able to get the motor loose but couldn't get the dang thing out of the door. By the way, my motor quit working with the window in the down position which makes it very difficult to access the bolts. I had to use a small 7/16 open end wrench, getting about a quarter of a turn on each turn of the wrench...the last one was very frustrating. Once the motor was free I was able to separate the teeth from the gears and move the window up by hand, greatly increasing my working space; I could use a small ratchet to put everything back together.

Now a new source of frustration...no matter how I turned it the motor would not come out of the door. It kept getting caught on the regulator. So while getting more and more frustrated on getting the dang motor out I decided to surf for another post in hopes of finding a secret.

Found one string that suggested checking the window motor by applying a 12 volt source to the switch on the motor, using a battery charger as a 12 volt source. There are two spades on the electrical connector, the motor grounds out through the mount. I clamped the ground from the charger to the window motor mount and put a small screw driver bit into the jaws of the positive side. When you touch one of the spades the motor turns one way; up, the other down.

Turns out the motor worked. So I never figured out what was really wrong with the motor...not did I figure out how to wiggle the motor out of the door....put it all back together and it works great. Just a great day bonding with the car door and all...hopes this helps someone in the future.

Changed the oil today and now the passenger side power window won't work maybe I've got the oil filter on to tight!

Seriously, the window worked fine before I changed the oil. Now, for some reason, its stuck in the down position.

When I push the switch either way, up or down, the interior lights slightly dim as normal. I hear a slight click in the door as well put no movement from the window. driver's side works fine.

Any thoughts on where to start?

Check the fuse. There is probably one labeled "pwr acces" or something like that. If that's not it, maybe pull the door panel off to see if a wire came off. Good luck!
