Pulled the body off last weekend and stripped the frame all week.
This week we'll have the frame blasted and hopefully start reassembly.
Van Steel is sending my T-arms back this week.
Problem is the motor needs rebuilding. I pulled the heads to see that the number 7 cylinder was filled with rust and sludge. Fortunately it stopped at the ring and didn't go past. I'll have the machine shop check for cracks in the head and the block when it gets rebuilt. I'll probably have to change the piston after the bore. It's been bored once before and had oversized rings.
Good thing my buddy came up from NC to help!! Pulling that motor and trans was easy without the body on!!
I'm in the process of preparing to pop off the body on my 1970. How were your body bolts? The number #3 bolts in front of the rear wheels on mine look bad.
Sounds like you didn't run into too much trouble - so far anyway.
Keep us posted.
Good luck Tom - if the bolts look bad - they usually are.
If you're "lucky", the rocker channels will be rotted around them
and the bolts can pull right through easily.
I had virtually no problems witht the body bolts. I did do them by hand instead of using an impact gun so they wouldn't sheer. Sprayed with penenetrating oil for a couple of days.
