I'm planning on installing a side exhaust system next spring, (headers with sidepipes ).
I'm trying to decide if I should get chrome or ceramic coated Hooker headers and sidepipes. I believe the chrome headers have a tendency to turn bluish over time, which I don't want. A guy told me that you can rub vasoline inside the header tubes where it goes against the heads and this won't happen, he said bikers do it on their chrome exhaust. Has anyone heard of this?
Or would I be better off with the ceramic, or use ceramic headers with chrome sidepipes (would that look stupid?)
My chrome turned blue at the heads the first week I put them on. You may want to also check out the stainless steel headers. The chrome looks great but if it's a driver, choose ceramic or stainless. Rod
I bought something that was suppose to remove the blue, it didn't work.
The hard part of the addition of sidepipes is filling in the exhaust openings on the rearend.
