Default Parts combination.........

Greetings once more.

Since buying my *** Vette 3 weeks ago and joining this Forum, its become obvious that there are more engine combinations ( between stock and aftermarket ) than grains of sand in Africa !!!!

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction re alloy heads.

At the moment I am thinking about a set of factory standard Alloy heads off Ebay - late 1980's. The weight saving and hopefully better flow, etc.

Am I heading down the right track, my engine purches so far are mild Crane cam and lifters, roller rockers, Performer intake, long tube headers ( to be an essentially straight through system ) and as soon as one comes up a 4MV carb. Thinking of running an 190 thermostat and getting / making a cold ait snorkel.

I have purchased the above as a mid step to ending up with a stroker set up - maybe next summer.

So, questions are,

1, Have I done right so far ..........?

2. Any particular factory alloy heads the best for me .........?

3.Just how new can you go with an 80's block.when did - if ever - stuff not fit anymore- or will a Z06 just bolt right in .?

Any thoughts / help appreciated before the Ebay sale closes tonight - have 18 hours left........tick.tick.tick

Regards,
Hugo

Gen III engines (LS1/LS6) won't just bolt in.

be careful on heads, vortec heads will limit intake choices
