Right now Mobil1 15W50. I was using Royal Purple 5W30 until I wiped my cam. Probably not related but I'm just paranoid now.

Because my motor seems to burn less of the thick stuff.

I suspect that heavier oil takes more power to pump around and creates more heat. It'd be interesting to try to quantify that some day with dyno runs I bet.

I get about 5psi more with straight 30W than with 10W30 when the motor is warm. Since I never drive it in the winter, it's all I need. Joe

I'm running Mobile 1 in all my vehicles.
2001 Expedition- 0W/20. Less than 50K Mi on motor It gets better mileage with this viscosity.
1982 Vette, 1995 Z-28 and T/A- 10W/30
1994 V6 Mustang- 15W/ 50. It has 140 K mi on motor and uses less oil with this viscosity, < 1 qt in 5K mi.
1986 MasterCraft Pro Star 190. Ford 351 engine. 15W/ 50 keeps the oil pressure higher at idle.
An oil for very purpose....
