Well yesterday was a bad day for my 76, it had an engine fire. The fuel line had a crack in it and when my dad got home and parked it in the driveway luckily, it is garage kept. He heard it start. The fuel line split and the fire was on. It did some damage but not to much considering what it could have done. Most of the wiring on the pass side is gone, burned the belts off, fan shroud is melted over the fan. Most of the hoses are now full of holes, the pass fender it peeling and crack from the heat, but I think it is just the paint. The hood is not to good, the paint is now really blistered, and I think the hood it self is okay but haven’t really looked yet. Thanks to quick response from the local fire dep. it was not as bad as it could have been. Now the fun begins with the insurance comp. pics to follow

Reason: spelling! its always spelling.....
I have to say you have a good attitude! Do you have insurance coverage? I would think that would be pretty expensive if you were to get an estimate to fix that damage.
o`man....to see pics like that is like watching someone bleed...
don`t give up!!!give it CPR,a prayer,and some love(and money)she`ll
be ok....good luck
I've read that MTBE has been causing car fires because it eats rubber fuel lines & gaskets. I know the 76 stations are no longer adding it to there gasoline.
Glad to hear you're ok
Yet another graphic reason to ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher in all your cars and in an easily accessible spot. Not having to wait on the fire dept may have greatly reduced the amount of damage.
I already have extinguishers in my Camaro and Vette. However last week I also picked up a "2 pack" of ABC extinguishers at Costco for my DD's. For under $20 for both, it's really cheap insurance. FWIW.
Lots of good luck w/the insurance co and getting it repaired.

Yea im going to get a fire extinguisher for my 71 just to be safe, and when the 76 is perfect again it will have on too.
