Have any of you guys seen some of the unbelieveably low priced Vettes on Ebay lately?
There was a professional 427 conversion of a 2000 coupe with 12k miles on it for a Buy-It-Now of $9600 and free shipping.
Then i saw a 1963 convertible, excellent condition for $8000. Buy-It-Now.
I emailed both sellers, of course you need to be pre-approved to buy it, they were both from Italy and are being sold by "upstanding and respected citizens of Italy".
They want 1/2 the money wired to them when they supply a tracking number then the other 1/2 when you receive the car and approve it's condition. and if you don't like the car they will refund your money and pay to have it shipped back to Italy.
The return emails were from 2 different sellers and very pressuring to complete the deal immediately.
I ran right out and started wiring money out for both these incredible deals. I didn't want to miss out.
Anyone out there work for the US Customs office??
There has been a foreign scam lately. Typically ultra rare cars at great prices. Upon sale they ask for $3000 or more deposited into a bank account and then they will ship the vehicle; full payment upon delivery. The rub is that you never see the car. Ebay caught the last one which was I believe an L88 mid year for around $18000.
Yes of course I'm kidding about sending money. These prices are so rediculously low I hope everybody uses their heads when buying. If it's too good to be true it 99.9% of the time it is a scam.
I hold a special place in my heart (and gun cabinet) for people who do their best to take my hard earned money.
I bought 2 cars off Ebay, the one I drove to Va. to see and bring home and the second was a cheap fixer upper and I made out just fine.
But even with car parts we need to do our homework before buying. Run the VIN #'s, talk to a live person, get a copy of the title. pay someone in that area to go see the car for you.
Ok - off my soapbox.
But Ace77 - I would like some more info on that bridge in NY
There was a "mint" 2004 Honda crotch rocket for sale on Ebay this weekend for 3800.00 (worth about 10K). Upon inquiry, found that the seller was in Portugal and using another unknowing Ebay members ID to post sale from the U.S. Too good to be true....yep! Be careful.
two guys that i work with in the Coast Guard were gonna buy bikes and fell for this scam trying to buy new bikes from Italy and both lost $2500 and still havent gotten a dime of there money back. this has been sense April. they almost talked me into buying one too but it seemed a little to good to be true. oh yah did i mention they have the FBI involved in there case and my budy says he is sure he is never getting his money back. only thing i can say from seeing this happen to someone first hand is if it seems to good to be true dont take a chance.
Why would anyone buy a car from overseas????????? Un less you were there looking at the car and made a deal and shipped it yourself you gotta be crazy. I don't buy anything outside the US on ebay, if the seller isn't here forget it. If It's a big ticket item like a car I want to see it. If anyone falls for this scam they have more money than they need.

Not everything is a scam on the Internet. I sent $50k to a Prince in Nigeria and received a deed to the entire country. I am now the largest private land-owner in Africa and plan to sub-divide in the near future.
I've been emailing the 2 "sellers" of these fine automobiles just to have some fun with them. I lead them to believe I was super excited about completing the deal and have the money ready to wire.
I told them that I have a relative who works for the U.S. Customs office and he is actually working in their area. I asked them for their addresses and phone numbers and a copy of the car titles and the location of the cars so he can go see it for me.
Gee, I never heard back from either one of them.
Hey 74FLCONV If you're sub-dividing keep me in mind for that African property. I love animals and I could open up the worlds largest petting zoo. PLEASE DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS.
