Default Secrets to adjusting T-Tops

I have a '79 with glass T-tops. The passenger's side top just does not fit as well as I'd like it to fit. It seems that the rod that runs the length of the top (internally) is shorter than the rod on the driver's side. That is, when latched the rod does not extend out as far into the latch plate. The result is a top that does not fit tightly at the back and, thus, rattles horribly when driving on a bumpy surface.

Is it possible the rod is bent slightly? If I remove the weather-strip can I get to the rod?

Does anyone have any secrets about adjusting tops? Or, can anyone point me at an existing thread or other resource about this topic (I've tried but can't find any)?

Thanks!

I don't know of any way to adjust the rod. Are you sure it's bent or is it just gummed up and gets hung. I had a car that did this sometimes.

The other area I would look at is at the latch, especially if the top rattles. Compare the two latches and make sure the rubber tip is on the part that latches to the window frame. One of mine fell off while I was putting the top back in on my old '82 car. I think the design is the same for a '79. The tips screw in and are adjustable.
