Look on the door jam on the driver's side near the windshield. There should be a trim tag stating the original body color and original interior color.

actually i just found that i cant when i did a web search so i guess i'll have to wait till i get home and look at the tag on the door. now when i look at the tag how do i find out what the color codes are. also when i use the vin to determine the engine what are the codes for engine size. and again TIA

Nope. The VIN describes engine displacement, place of manufacture, year, etc. The trim tag tells you the other stuff, as Corey mentioned.

Do a google search on decoding VIN for Corvettes and I'm sure you'll find a page to help you decode your year.

Select your year and click under 'production and performance' for color codes.

Liquiddragon,
In case you were wondering what it would look like, Corvette color code 13 (Silver Metallic) is the color of the upper half of my 78.
