Default new radiator-lower temp

Got a new original style radiator put in my 1976 L48 engine w/ 4 speed. Old one was leaking and had been repaired before. My water temp is now 20º to 25º lower and the oil pressure is up 1 or 2 psi. Now, I didn't think I had an overheating problem before, it steadied at about 210º with A/C running at highway speed and lower in town. So, you guys with an overheating problem, don't forget the radiator.

I had similiar results when I replaced mine. My car was getting hotter and hotter the longer I drove which indicated that my radiator had a water flow problem. New radiator and now I stay right on 180 when moving. In traffic, it hasn't been higher than 200.

Glad to hear you got it squared away.

I have a 76 L48 4 spd with over heat problems as well. My radiator has seen its better day with leaks and bubba JB Weld. My winter projects involves radiator replacement, harmonic balancer, timing chain and new seals around radiator. I might do a cam and intake manifold while I am at it. I need to figure out what cam will work with the stock heads. My compression is still good (170 to 176 psi) so I don't want to pull the heads.
