This weekend when i was up at dad's he decided to become generous and gave me all these things in this shot:
One set is a set of early 461's without accessory holes in them and the others are a set of 487X heads. I think the 487's are big chamber smog heads, but they do have dual springs. the 461's have about 500 miles on them but are in need of tanking and re-sealing. The 487's need a total going through. My question is this: do i attempt to have some machine shop go and try to drill the 461's for accessory holes or just locate the bracket work for my ac and alternator? I dont mind the thought of the 487's but i really would rathert have the 461's (no you monkey's cant talk me out of them either ) Also in the pic are a set of 78 ram horns that i am going to have powdercoated and put on as well as a set of old valve covers that i am going to slot and use for valve adjustment .....
Any machine shop should be able to drill the holes for a reasonable price. Its just a a drill and tap operation after all. If you can find another set of heads (on a friends car) to get the exact hole depth it would help.
The RAM Horns should be either Jet Hotted or painted with some $6 HI-TEMP paint. Powder coat will not handle the heat. JET-HOT has a discount for the CF but it costs around $180 for a set of RAM Horns to get Jet Hotted.
thanks for the inputs on the heads.. like i said, my biggest fear is them hitting a water jacket...as for the high temp paint... if it's that easy, i'll just go that way.
Its just from this WICKED film released in 1986 starring Matthew Broderick called Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Ben Stein plays the economics teacher who repeats the name Bueller over and over when taking attendance...

Mine ran until I got a wild hair up my **** and remove the intake Monday night.
Check out this rationalization:
I pulled the intake with the intention of replacing the intake manifold gaskets. Turns out the cooling system is full of crud. So, I have decided to replace the water pump and pull the radiator and have it cleaned and flushed. Hey, that means that I have room to pull the cam and replace it. While I'm doing this, I might as well re-route the hoses and wires to clean things up.
So, very soon I will be $500 into a gasket replacement.
