Power surge when cold
My '79 has an issue where it seems to have a regular power surge at highway speeds until the engine gets completely warmed up. That is, if I start it up cold and hit the road and cruise on a level surface at about 50 MPH it seems to rhythmically loose power... then gain power... then loose. It does not seem to change the engine RPMs (at least not that is visible on the tach) but you can definitely feel it and hear it somewhat.
After about 10 minutes of driving it goes away and runs fine.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas? I don't even know where to start...

I am just going to throw this out there but I could be way, way wrong. Is it possible that your torque converter is going in and out of lock-up? If nothing else, this gets you back to the top of the list.

I will check out the choke. That makes sense, too.
