Single wire Alt. ?
My brother in law just called me and was asking how to wire his single wire Alt. he has a 69 Camaro and the wiring diagrams are very similar from a Vette to a Camaro. How did you guys wire it. It is an internal regulated 120 amp unit. Any help would be appreciated.

hhmm...dont know what is called a single wire alt,,but i often put gm alts in boats and test them in cars by this way..
looking at BACK of alt,see where the wire to bat goes..(big lug).
on top see hole with 2 spade terms..
with a crimp on connector ( or solder),connect the RIGHT terminal to the bat wire on back of alt..
this bypasses all the wiring stuff in the car..the other term is for tach and accsories etc..
may have to rpm motor to 1500 or so to get reg to kick in..
i have been doing this since gm made self reg alts..
hope this helps,,if not now you know how to do it if you have to..

Melting Slicks
just changed my 76 from 3-wire to 1 wire powermaster. Just bypass the "multipin" plug and only use the + wire and - (either to frame, block or ground screw at back of alternator) everything works so far including gauge. good luck
