My tire and wheel guy wants to slam a set of 10" wide american racing wheel 15" I was wondering if anyone on here has 10" wide wheel and if so does everything clear. I wouldn't mind so pics to.
Worst case scenario you can always get wheel adapters from VBP that would let you fit any wheel up to 11 inches wide (if not wider, havent tried it yet), i have 17 by 11 inch rims with 315 tires out back and 275 out front (going to swap the front ones for 315s as well) and with VBPs 3 inch wheel adapters they fit on perfect, you just might need some fender flares, and thats never a bad thing
I ended up making my own, youll see a post soon by me about how to do it yourself, its very easy and painless and will only cost you $60 All that you need is a product called tigers hair, or bondo hair. Its like bondo, except its reinforced with fiberglass fibers making it 500 times stronger (i can fully sit on the fender flare i made), you get a big piece of metal and make it fit to your wheel arch, then build it up unto the lip of your wheel arch until you get approximantly the right dimensions you need, then just sand it down (the fiberglass makes it real chunky and rough), fill any holes or dimples with a bit of bondo and youve got your set of custom made fender flares that look exactly like what you want them to look like. Getting them even isnt that bad either. Hope this helps you out
PS: Sorry i cant get you a pic, my scanner crapped out, ill get some pics some time next week and send you a pm.

I have a set of 10 inch wide billet wheels on all four corners on my 82. I bought the car with that setup. It does not look too bad. But it seriously rubs on tight corners. The rubbing is on the front side of the wheel openings. I would not reccommend it without some trimming. It does not look bad and does not need flares. I am not sure of the offset. But it looks like 4-1/2 backspacing.

I'm running 9,5" wheels with 1,5" spacers in the rear and 285/40/17's
Works great!

Not a chance without flares unless you are willing to let the tires hang out the side. I did alot of research this weekend with 10 inch by 18 inch american racing wheels and even with 5 inch backspacing which most people can not handle the wheels stick out the side of the car by about 1 inch. I have knotched trailing arms, modified frame and coilovers to get rid of the buggy spring that interfers with 5 inch backspacing. I can handle 6 1/2 inches of backspacing and that is what is needed to tuck the 10 inch rim under the fender.
This shot is looking at the edge of a P295 50 15 mounted on 15X9 Weld Draglites. The rim has a 5 1/2 " backset, but I installed a 1 1/4" VB&P wheel adaptor to make up the difference. I could not find a 15" rim that had the 4 1/2" BS that I needed, but in a 9' width. I tried 10's ,but as Norval said, they stick out an inch past the fender lip, which for me was not an option. This combination has been on my 80 for two years and I've never had any clearance problems at all.
My question to the poster is why does your tire man think that you need 10X15 wheels?
Killervett666 - I can't imagine 315's on the fronts That would really be putting some severe torque on the front end. If you could please email your flare ideas. The only thing that's stopped me from flares is having to redo my custom existing paint job.
