Windshield frame rust
So I was driving to my uncle's shop for some new tires..first big ride in the vette...and when I hit some railroad tracks I found myself covered in rust dust. Upon further investigation (ie removing weatherstripping) I discovered that my windshield frame is severely rusted. Has anyone replaced theirs? What kind of pita factor is involved?

I have the same issue in my 1970. This is a very common problem, but can be a major PITA. The reason is because you most likely have rust in your birdcage section and rocker sections above your frame. You need to check these out and see what condition they are in.

You did not mention if you had a vert or t-top. On a vert it is a snap. Pull the glass remove the trim, cut the old frame off, weld a new one on. I purchased my parts from Paragon. They were easy to deal with. It is pretty straight forward job, unless the supports (birdcage) has got the cancer, then you are in for a lot of work. The old frame has some spot welds that must be cut. After that really is easy. Just take some measurements before you start, and you will be fine.
