U-Joints?
I'm going to order new u-joints and see two different types of bolt fasteners. One is listed as a "strap-type" and the other is listed as a U-bolt fastener.
What type is the "strap-type"? What type did the early C3 BB's use? I think they were different that the "stock" type fasteners. I remember reading something about the early BB's using "caps"?
Len, I believe all BB had the "caps" where a bolt goes through on each end. Some SB cars, depending upon the HP had the BB style "caps". If you saw a pic of the two, you'd see why they say "strap". The "strap" style looks like it was made out of 1/8" stamped steel-very chinsy when compared to the "cap". I do not know why, but my "very original" L-48 automatic '74 has the "caps". My '75 L-82 automatic car came with "straps". Go figure
If your rear axle flange has threads in it for bolts, you need the cap or strap type setup. If the flange has through holes with no threads then you need the U-bolts with nuts.
