Default Brake lines - replace or not

Doing a frame off and it's time to install the front to back brake line. Should I replace it with Stainless steel (and all others) or use it? It's in good condition.

If your there I would do it. It much easier to do it while the body is off than try to replace them later. Read some of the strings and you will see people in that position.

If the budget allows, replace all, if the budget is tight, then replace the long one and reuse the old ones everywhere else as they can be replaced without much trouble with the car completed.

I had my brake and fuel lines sandblasted. They turned out like brand new. I then brushed them with POR15, waited until they were tacky and hit them with a silver zinc paint topcoat. They will never rust again.

I say replace them. Remember, they're rusting on the inside too. This is something you can't afford not to do.

I chose to go with a full stainless brake line set. They will last forever.
The fuel lines: I made from coiled steel line from the parts store ... clear coated for protection.

I say go for it - worth the extra funds.

Since you're doing the frame off anyway, go stainless and you've eliminated one less area to rust on the C3! The frame off means you want to start with everything clean from the bottom up, so why go cheap at this point. The cost is not much in the grand scheme of things.

I'd say do them while everything is easily accessible. However my two cents worth is that as long as you protect them, using plain old steel ones will probably last another 30-40 years as the originals did. Can't speak for you, but that's more than long enough for me. FWIW.

Good Luck!
