Default 1979 "GEN" light

The "GEN" light on my 79 Vette stays on all og the time. The battery maintains it's charge with no problem too. I have disconnected the battery with the vehicle running and it will remain running. All connections seem to match the ones in the repair manual too. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for next?

Check the thin wire (I think it's brown) from the alt. connector. That's your gauge wire wire, ez to break...

There is a small electrical chip inside the internaly regulated alternator called a diode trio. It is usualy black with 4 strips of steel on it that have eyes on the ends for connections. If it is blown, the alternator can still be functioning properly otherwise but the light will come on and stay on. Real easy to check with an ohm meter and easy/cheap to change out if it is trashed.

If you need a walkthrough, just ask.
