Boy, the back half of yours looks almost as bad as mine (I'm restoring a '70 big block). I have everything undone except the body mounting bolts. Now lets see, I got two of them out, I spun two and I got two that don't even look like bolts anymore. Why do I do this to myself?

Oh well.

Yep, its bad.....but not hopeless. Everyting is there. It just all needs to be freshened up. I have a new chassis which you can kind of see next to the spare tire carrier. You can find one for the cost of a rebuilt diff, trailing arms, brake lines, fuel lines, bushings etc. already assembled if you look hard enough. I was lucky to find an original 1970 4-speed chassis.
My body bolts are very bad. I am estimating one to two nights for each.
Its starting to get cold here in Michigan (same in Ohio I bet) and I have 10 months till the next Woodward Cruise!
That's funny, I saw those pics and thought the backend didn't look bad at all. Plenty of surface rust, but everything looks in pretty good shape. That's about what my '79 looked like before I tore it down.

Best of luck.
Yeah - that's not bad at all.
Plus - you are using a new chassis anyway ?
You're already half-way done. Only 2-3 more years to complete.
(if you work as fast as me)
Once you get past the body mount bolts, the rest is cake.
BigblockK and gearheaddroppings, did you register your cars at the 1970 Registry? 1970 Corvette Registry
If not send Juliet an email.
Yep, I've been a member for years. In fact many of the shots of casting numbers, documentation and such are mine. I have been a pretty avid 1970 "freak" since I bought the car.
My dream car has always been a Daytona Yellow 1970. This car is like a member of the family. I will never sell it.
Well, I got all the body mount bolts out. One of them (passenger side #3) is still firmly sinched up, the bolt, caged nut, the cage, the spacer, shims and the mounting area of the bird cage sit here on my computer stand before me for all to see.
I have discovered extensive bird cage rust damage at mounting points #1, #2 and #3 on the drivers side and points #2 and #3 on the pasenger side. There is so much wrong here that ya'll would be reading for a week if I put it all down.
This is going to be a VERY challenging restoration or it will be a parts car. I hope I'm up to the challenge.
