From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
My cam is a solid roller with 242/248 deg @ .050 and over .600" lift. I can drive it around in 4th gear with a 3.08 rear end at 1700RPM all day long if I wanted and when you get on it, it really makes some power. I believe this is all due to the solid roller cam, you could make the same power with a flat tappet cam but it would not behave very well on the street so in this respect I think the evoluton of the roller setups has really changed things. I used to have a solid flat tappet Cuda that made some power but was not very street freindly and that is not what you want.
Just like anything else there are limits and you have to be careful who you are talking to or building your motor. A drag race guy might build you a high horspower motor that is not good for the street. If it is a street motor you don't want to sacrifice drivability for a few horses, you will end up tearing out the cam.
