Does anyone know where the BFGs are available for the best price? i need 2 BFG radial T/A 295/50SR16 (front ) tires and tire rack list them for 111$ but they are blackwalls (yuck), I'm looking for raised white letters. Those tires are not available here, when I was at the tire dealership here they looked at me real funny when I asked about that size

Marck, I'm not-sure I've ever seen 16"-and-taller tires in anything other than Black sidewalls.....
TT,
A buddy owns/operates an independent tire store. Told me he can get me anything I want. Lemme' check with him and see if what you want it available, and if so, how much. It'll Monday before I can check with him.
TT, I'm with you on the white lettering on the sidewalls. For the older cars, I think they look great. Guess them old Polyglas GT's had too much of an influence on me way back when.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I wanted white letters on my Grand Am ( 16 in rims ) and I ordered them from a tire store, when they came they were blackwalls and I could not get the white letters.
That'd be awesome. I'm not too worried about the white letters, raised looks nice but if they're not available it's nothing a little paint can't fix, white is more of importance to me than raised.
Paul, I don't see anything on lettering on that page, only white & red walls. Probably expensive to have it done also. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out in more detail later.
What I learned when I bought my BFG tires was that some tires are available with RWL and some are not. (Seemed arbitrary to me). I wanted 225/70 15 T/As and the cheaper S rated tire was available with RWL - this is the tire most guys use - but the H rated tire was only available in blackwall. I went ahead and bought the H rated tire blackwall. I miss the RWL a little bit, and I have thought about painting the letters, but I feel better when I look at pics of the original 68 L88 with blackwall tires.
oh, and tirerack had the best prices but a local shop used "tirerack + $5" pricing, which was close enuf.
BFG TAs? You mean they make them round these days. I always had trouble with run out.
Last tire in 15 inch I put on were the Perelli (spelling?) scorpions but they only go to 255/60 in 15 inch. However they stuck so much better that the old TA design even though they were called SUV tires on the Tirerack.com web site.
Try going to www.tirerack.com and do a search by selecting tires, then brands and then you can review all tire specs.
Yokohama has a 295/50 that I would have used if I had stuck with 15 inch rims and the feedback on these was very good. I believe they are listed as an all weather perfromance tire and should stick much better than the old TA design. TAs are probably the only large 15 inch tires tires doing white letters these days.
I have 16" rims and only a couple of manufacturers have tires that fit 11" wide rims, BFG is one and hoosier the other. For the rest the only ones I've seen are cooper cobras and I really do not want those, they suck and have a low speed rating. Never had problems w/ the T/As and I have driven my car at very high speeds (german autobahn), the pirellis are nice in the dry but they suck in the wet.
I have never had a balancing problem with the BFG tires, also no runout problems. The only tires I have had runout problems with were a couple of cheap General XPs
It doesn't have to do with the rim size, it has to do with the aspect ratio. Anything under 60 series just doesn't come with RWL, that's just the way it is. Your only other option is the 265/60R16, but that will be a little too large on overall diameter.
yeah, it has to be 50 I don't want balloon tires in the front. 15" tires w/ an aspect ratio of 50 or less are availble in RWL, I've had them in the past.
Had a friend and wanted a white letter on his 67 Shelby road racer. He couldn't find white letters for the stock look. He found out where to get a Goodyear template like a Nascar or Indy tire uses. Just put template up to sidewall and spray paint on the sidewall. Great race car look..

The BFGoodrich Tire site: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com
show only one Radial T/A in the 295/50R16 size and it is a black sidewall tire.
Twin I think I have 2 of those tires I am positive they are 16's and they are w-i-d-e but I am not sure they are 295's or if they are white letters. I will let you know tomorrow. I see tirerack has blackwalls for $111.00 no white
