Default Newbie BB swap question

If I swapped out my small block for a big block, would I be able to use the small block ignition? Also, would the accesories and pullies and stuff up front fit on the big block? thanks

The only pieces I was able to use on my 454 were my distributor, coil, carb, and part of the fuel line, the plug wires I'm still using but will need to get new ones.

Pulley's and brackets are all new BB.

so I would be able to use the distributor, coil, and ignition control? basically the idea is upgrade the ignition on the small block to an msd system, distributor, coil, ignition control, spark plugs and wires(which i know Ill have to replace)for a lil something extra, and then put it on the big block when i do the swap in the future, this would be ok right? Are small block systems and big block systems the same, I dont want it to just fit, i want it to run good. I nkow this sounds like pretty basic stuff, but I dont know much about ignitionsm thanks

Yes everything will fit from the SB to the BB as far as ignition components are concerned.

Ign stuff will all transfer. Motor mts are the same too. Bellhousing will transfer also. But that is about it. I had resigned myself to swapping to a SB 400 until I stumbled onto a BB deal I could not refuse last week, so I am mulling through catalogs adding up all the stuff I have to buy. Brackets and pulleys are expensive!!! I am reminded how fast a SB car built right can go when I see the pic of GordonM's car, and I am sure that his car will still take me by a few tenths in 1/4 mi when my BB project is done. My car was not matching #s anyway so I thought if I am going to upgrade, why not go big. Found out that a previous owner swapped in heavy duty radiator and fan shroud already, so that will save some $$$ on the conversion.
