Default 505 Dyno Results

I recently had my 505 setup on the engine dyno at Hinkernell's in New Albany Ohio. On 92 Octane it made 580 Horse power and 600 pounds of torque and idles at 900 RPM. I am of course very happy with the end result!
Desktop Dyno was a very close match to my actual numbers. Check it out!

I think the thermometer at Hinkernell's is broken. It says that the dyno room was at about -43 degrees!

Oh, nice engine. Kind of tall. Did you measure to see if it will fit under a factory hood?

It is a 454 100 over with a 4.25 crank, billet oil pump, 10:1 pistons, 680 lift roller cam, Performer RPM oval port aluminum heads, Oval Port tunnel ram, Two 450 Holleys, MSD Pro billet distributor, Crane gold roller rockers, Crane stud girdle, Moroso fab valve covers, billet timing chain, and a small fortune in ARP products
I dont mind it sticking out of the hood, I live 2 miles from National Trails here in Ohio where they are not out to give the racers a hard time. Great place to live!
CGGorman: The temp in the dyno room was around 85 Degrees, You are looking at the back side of the arrow I think.

Congrats on the big hp pump gas motor. Looking at the dyno sheet I see a few things that may interest you. The max tq. and hp numbers are only 800 rpms apart, that is normaly a sign of a cam that is too small for the motor. In your case the cam is plenty big .680 lift and 254 at .050. I am sure the heads are costing you a lot of power. That cam should make max power around 62-6300 in your motor, it is running out of air. I have a pair of those same heads and they flow around 280 cfm stock. I had mine ported and they cam back at 322. On your motor that would be somewhere around 40-80 hp, probably close to 60.

My 454 made 500 rwhp and went 124 mph in the 1/4 in complete street trim, mufflers, street tires, etc.

10.7 to 1
ported Edelbrock ovals
ported Victor Jr.
255 / 262 .652 solid roller
Hp 1000
Richmond 6 spd.

I had actually started out with a smaller hyd roller and just recently switched to a full roller. The performer rpm oval heads advertise up to .700 lift and we got as close as possible to that while staying safe.
I plan on running the super comp sidepipes with the tubes but no mufflers. Ill just shut the car off when a cop gets near hehe! Just noticed the desktop dyno .jpg that I posted still has the old cam profile in it.
It has a freshly built 400 turbo in it with a 2500 stall converter which I will run for a while but plan to replace it with some type of high hp standard setup 5/6 speed someday.
The stock rear is still in the car, I plan to take it to swracecars.com shortly after I get the car setup to run and have a alum solid axle non tubbed setup put in and will add fender flares and am targeting the 335/18 rear tire/wheel setup.
I recently had to do some massive cutting on the front crossmember to fit the march ultra serpentine system in the car. I have a master welder bringing his tig to my garage next week to box in all my cuts and support the front frame and motor mount posts and other weak areas in the front. I also did some major fiberglass work on the firewall to let the drivers side valve cover fit in.
Ill take some pics of my cuts and firewall later tonight.

69 Nox Ratt: How much did you get charged to port your heads? Thats a serious flow improvement. I dont imagine Ill be tearing it back apart any time soon, Its pretty much all tuned up and ready to run.
60 more horsepower is nothing to sneeze at though
Was thinking more cfm might help out the hp also.
Jeff at hinkernells said he was impressed by the tunnel ram and 2 single feed 450's though.

I got a very good deal on my heads. I am friends with the porter. His name is Bob McKray, does a lot of fuel and Nascar stuff. Really a top rate guy. Give him a call and see what he will charge you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. 949 458 7097

I gained 40 cfm through out most of the flow range, the mid lift numbers are very good also 282 at .300 and 305 at .400

I think the motor may want a little more carb also, but the heads will be the big improvement.
