So we got the new ZZ4 in, filled up the fluids, and had a very disappointing sight... gas leaking from the rear end. It seems to be coming from the rubber tank-to-pump hose, but I haven't had a good look at it yet.
There was no gas leak before I pulled the old engine 2 months ago, and the only tampering I did was to pull and reconnect the two hoses from the fuel pump.
Also - and this part is strange - when we poured in the gasoline, it leaked a little bit but we couldn't find the source. So we poured in more gasoline (much more), and it didn't leak Now it leaks only when we crank the starter.
Any ideas what this could be? I'm planning to replace all four rubber hoses in the fuel lines and hope that fixes the problem.
I had the same problem last week. Had a new crate engine put in and then found gas leaking from the tank. I did not remember it leaking before the new engine. Anyway pulled of the gas cap door and the rubber around the filler neck. Could not see a leak till I starter the car. There are two hoses that head out to the right and the top one was the one leaking. It's only about 3in long but what a pain to change. But I was able to do it without pulling the tank. Good Luck.
