Good u-jonts, I would get the half shaft safety loops too. I blew my Super T10 transmission the first day I put the 406ci in mine

What?! I don't see any reason why someone would rather break things on the track or street then fix them at home beforehand.
The following is a list I copied. Dep posted this about a month ago. Thanks Dep.
Here's the info I got from Steve at Dragvette:
I will list the upgrades to a Corvette IRS in the order that I think is
the most cost effective and in the order I would do them if I were
doing an IRS on my own car.
1.Safety Loops for half shaft. I would do this first because of safety
and also to protect the body of the car. $119.00 a pair.
2. Safety loop for drive shaft. Ours connects to the transmission cross
member so you don’t have to drill holes in your classic model available
for the 1969 to 1979 years. $98.00
3. A DragVette Suspension Kit will reduces the stress put on all parts
this will prevent breakage. This is better than any one thing you can
do for the IRS suspension $249.95
4. 1350 Spicer Universals I have never heard of one of these units
failing.
These are solid and prelubricated at the factory they do not require
lubrication after installation four are required at $26.80 ea. Or $107.20
for a set of four.
4. Side yoke billet caps will help the weaker side yokes and are a good
replacement for old pitted units. The caps torque down to 35 ft Ibs
compared to 15 for the stock straps. They distribute the clamping pressure
evenly. $99.00 for a set of four.
General tips I have learned.
Left side axle spindle Take a close look at the spline on this side as
I have seen more than one of these break. (drivers side) I do not carry
these because of low demand. Inspect for a twist in the spline.
Extreme duty side yoke I would install these only after breaking my
original ones. $216.00
I would only replace the one that broke. If you are using the Dragvette
Suspension Kit, the heavy duty units by GM will survive. The heavy duty are
identified by four tapped holes.
Do not put synthetic lube in with your posi tract. Use the heaviest
differential lube you can find. I use Valvoline 85/140 weight. Use the
differential additive for positracts, GM's, it is good.
A 28" tall tire with a 12 inch beam (10"slick) is the largest tire you
can safely put under your 68 to 82 Corvette. Early models are
only good for a 9" slick.
My favorite tire is M & H Racemasters. Use a medium grade rubber for a
heavy Corvette pushing more than 400 hp. A soft tire will give you inconsistent
60 ft times and no win on the dial in.
Start at 14 psi and work your way down one psi at a time never less
than 10 1/5 psi
Thanks,
Steve at DragVette.com

Wow... you guys are awesome. Gotta make a christmas list. I may end up making this a longer term project, and make sure everything is done right. Origonally i was shooting for november, but i may just get her setup "right" for spring.
A question about rear's though. I'm putting in 3.55's. In my S2000 i replaced the differential fluid with Redline shockproof fluid, and its worked great. Do you think that redline will at all help with the rear when under tremendous load, or am i missing something? Tks,

what to strenghthen. I'd ditch the 70's seat belts and get at least a harness on the driver's side. 500hp's not fun when you're splattered on the side of the road. Driveshaft loop, halfshaft loop. These are all things that could save your life one day.
