Default Automobile Magazine lists the coolest 100 cars...ever.

Guess what's Number One. Anyone?

Here's a clue: The AC Cobra was #3 and there were NO corvettes less cool than that.

Give up?

The C2, according to Automobile magazine is THE coolest car ever built.

NO other Corvette, let alone the C3, made the list.

Something is fundamentally wrong out there. I'm happy to be here with you all as I watch the world go to hell in a handcart.

Same way Guitar World comes up with the top 100 guitarists. Pure subjective omniscience.

Ouija Board!

Seriously though. It was a great article with lots of cool cars and of course, the 63-67 Corvettes came out tops, represented by a 67 427/435. Oth, as much as I love Corvettes, they rated the Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB lower than the 63-67? Good article.

#39. 1983 Volkswagen GTI ->cooler than any year C-3....You gotta be kidding me? Not having at least one C-3 in at least the top 25 let alone the top 100 doesn't make a lot of sense to me? set a C-3 next to ANY 1983 Volkswagen and ask anybody which is cooler!

They list the entire body style/generation for the vette (63-67), but only the 67 and 68 camaros. What's with that?

I would rather see a list of the 100 most INFLUENTIAL cars of all time. That would change the standard to require that the car had some bearing on future automotive design and engineering.

It really shows how, out of touch "automobile" amgazine is! I dont care if a bunch of out of touch squares continue to dis the C3 because i wouldnt expect them to say anything positive anymore then i'd expect them to give an honest review of the latest Nelly CD
Lets just be real here, you look at the C3 and either can assume its Ferrari inspired ( for those not in the know) or, if you've had vette history 101 you know its a Mako Shark 2 designed put into production with very little change.
Listen guys, there are alot of old farts with money out there that simply dont like the C3 and use the smog block years as an excuse to right off the entire run. It happens the same way Dave Hill never has anything nice to say about the third gen vette. Poepl of a certain age and froma certain background feel and want the 2nd gen (especially the split window) to be put on that high horse. Thts the one they grew up with and thats just that.
Personally i appreicate that fact because it keeps these same old rich guys from making the sharks too expensive. Trends start this way and car values become startospheric and the next thing you know its the mid eighties all over again. I got news for people who want an exclusive vette to make into a super rare ferrari esque halo car. The corvette is NO FERRARI , neither is it an AC Cobra. It may upset some baby boomer chevy guys but Ford ended up with two ultra rare halo cars due to chevy turning down Carrol Shelby's wanting to put there motors in the AC ace, and Mr Ford wanting to embarrase Ferrari. If ultra rare halo cars are your thing then pull out your wallt and pay half a mil for the blue oval. We have cars with chevy big blocks that are just as cool, nig blocks that make just as much power and easyier to fix and drive because there not sooo darn rare.

Mmm. But what about the Daytone coupe? Too bad the C2 wasn't that sharp. The C3 looks like it could be a decendant!

Priceless.

an '83 VW GTI??? I had an '85 Omni Turbo GLH (Shelby design) that walked all over the other pocket rockets...

Seriously, there had to be some personal feelings instead of hard performance (or looks) criteria for this list. SHould have had the '53, '57 (Fuelie), '63 split window, the number one listed '67, a '68 or '69 big block, a Grand Sport ragtop, the Z06 C-5, and now the C-6 (since they list the Ford GT as well as the GT-40...). All had technical firsts or top performance numbers, look cool, ride great. (Better than a VW microbus!!!)

I have nothing against the 67 and 68 Camaro; however, how could they exclude the 69. In my opinion, it was the nicest of the early models and is nicer than any other Camaro that Chevy ever built.

There are plenty of great cars in the list. The C2 vette is one one the nicest cars ever made (even nicer the the C3s), that is one of the reasons they sell for such a high price. The problem I see with the list is that there are cars that do not belong there such as the Mazda Mita. It's a nice car but not a top 100.

I'm an old fart baby boomer with too much money and metamucil-addicted and influencing Corvette market prices by denouncing smog engine C3s while eating a bran muffin (no butter) and sipping low-carb beer while checking my mutual fund returns in the newspaper as I stroke my pure-bred Persian cat while she eats chunk white tuna as I check my consulting contract e-mails on my cell 'phone during which my EBay watcher advises me on C2 NOS parts up for auction so I can meet NCRS Top Flight standards to satisfy my over-inflated ego at the latest meet some 2,000 miles away as I prepare the trailer for serious action.

Oops! Just woke up from that dream and pulled the defrost cable out of the dash trying to get the f*&^)(*& heater to work. D*&^, not too much blood. I should have a replacement in a week. Having a #1 Cool Car is a lot of fun...and work.

TT,
All kidding aside, one of my favourites is the Sunbeam Tiger. I won't mention that Rootes put a F*** engine in it.

It looks more like it should have been in the 100 worst boat list. I not sure that would even qualify as a car.

The 2CV is a death trap, the suspension is ancient, there is no structural integrity on it whatsoever so in case you crash into a sign post doing 15 mph, you probably won't survive.

This one was hit by a shopping trolly

and this one had a minor fender bender when backing out of a parking lot

It's probably one of the worst cars ever, as is all other citroën junk. Some people swear by the hydraulic suspension systems on the larger models like the DS. The exterior is terrible, the handling also IMO but what really gets your stomach upset is the interiors. The DS is a common "classic" car here, a certain breed of French loving idiots drives those things and 99% of them are rust buckets that don't belong on the roads.
