I just installed the passenger side mirror on the car. I don't like the fact that it just doesn't seem very stable - it wiggles at any speed! I bought it from Eckler's and installed it per their directions. Is there a reinforcement plate to go inside the door to make this a solid mount or do I just rely on those "well nuts" that came with it? It seems to be a pretty cheap way to mount a mirror to me. Any ideas?
My mirror on my '75 does the same thing. Very wobbly. The set screw that you can get to on the outside has no affect on it. I need to go inside the door and "rig" something I guess. My wife hates it when I rig stuff.
Yea - mine too! I was looking thru the Mid-America catalogue and they have a support for the left side - wondering if that will fit the right hand too?

If the whole mirror assembly, not just the glass, is loose then you may need to replace the mounting bracket. Take the set screw out, remove the mirror and see what you have to work with. The tapered hole the set screw goes in to may be worn. The one on my '76 was.
I took the well nuts that came with the mirror to Lowes (for comparison) and bought some from them that are a little longer than the ones that came with the mirror. Still have the slighest movement but no rigging was required. Worth the $1 investment at Lowes.
