What is this?

What is the canister under the power brake booster that has air hoses going to it?

It is what's called the charcoal cannister. It is part of the polution system and helps keep the gas fumes under control.

ok, cause I have one of the larger hoses coming off of it just hanging there. Looks like it was cut or broke. I dont know where it goes. Anyone have a diagram for the hoses that goto it?

On my '72, the big vacum hose was teed off the PCV valve. It had been plugged and is not working as I don't have the original carb.

Do a search in C3 section for "Charcoal cannister" with the quotes and you will see many more.
