Default Solid lifter valve lash made simple?

Again, but I can't get the search function to work. I had a post about a year ago but can't find it. Will this work for solid lifters?

Here's what I got out of an old Chiltons.

Chilton states to start at TDC #1 and adjust:
Exhaust: 1,3,4,8
Intake: 1,2,5,7

Rotate 360 degrees and No 6 should be at TDC. Then adjust:
Exhaust: 2,5,6,7
Intake: 3,4,6,8

That will work but I use a method of 180 degree crank revolutions.

TDC adjust exhaust 4,8
Intake adjust 2,7

1/2 revolution 180 degrees exhaust 3,6
Intake 1,8

1/2 revolution #6 TDC exhaust 5,7
intake 3,4

1/2 revolution exhaust 1,2
intake 5,6

This is a little more precise and insures that the lifters are on the base circle. The other way will work but if you have a long duration cam there is a slight chance you could be off the base circle.

Funny Len I just put my eng back together and tried that method from Chilton's and it seemed to be a couple of the rockers where not fully seated and 1 was def up, they might have mis printed or maybe I just did the wrong one.

I can't see how this would work. I have always used the 180 degree methods already posted here.

I use the 90 degree method start at no 1 at 0 deg on balancer and do intake and exhaust, crank 90 degrees do the next one on the firing order and so on, fool proof.

It's nice to have a balancer marked at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees for this method
