Budman, 440hp numbers from a 350 is not a long shot, in fact Edlebrock sells a 440hp 350 crate motor that is scheduled to deliver to my front door later this week. I'll let you know how it idles when I get it running but Edlebrock claims the idle is nothing radical.

Mine idles just fine at 900-1100...sure the car does shake a little with all that power, especially below 900 my CAM disagrees...starting it up is the b*tch with my current cats...never wants to warm up past 150, but it all will be fixed soon...

Hey Joe Buck. I have the same problem as you - not warming past 150. What would cause the low running temp and how do you fix it? I have unknown engine specs, 882 heads, headers, true duals (no cats). I'm not sure of my cam specs since the PO installed.

Thanks!

I would like to hear more about your combo too.

I had just the other problem the other night with the c-4 ( carbed) I went with a friend to the local late night cruise in. I already had the slicks on it so it was just easier to drive it like that ( 15 miles). Anyway we get there and when the slick tires, 4" cowl hooded ( NO LOPE) vette pulls in quite a few people came over and asked me to pop the hood. I did. They see the Canfield heads and nitrous solenoids, one guy asks what it runs, I tell him 11.38 just like it is with the 100 shot ( I don't street race so nothing to hide)...funny part is nobody even asked to race. HEHE

BTW.. I did take a few friends for a ride and the car dead hooks on spray on the street. I mostly just go from 5-60 with them....G-force and hook is impressive when you drive a 4th gen.

Are you guys running with out a thermostat? No thermostat and a high volume water pump will keep you from ever getting warm

Nice to know we have street racing vettes on the forum..now to the lighter side..we "San Antonio, TX" just lost 3 more teenagers to street racing last nite..youngest one was 16. Try to control yourselves out there. When I talk to ppl about the vette..seems like I catch myself saying that a vette owner "must be" disciplined to drive one of these cars. So ez for these things to get "out of control" when on the road.

Always been said, I know what I am doing out there..that might be true..but you don't know what the bonehead next to you is going to do!
This comes from a Texan..especially south texas..where the insurance rate are sky high. Statistics say the down here every other driver does not have insurance..not bad odds eh? 50% of the drivers out on the road have no insurance...great. Now you see one of the reasons "our" ..those that do have insurance.. rates are so damn high.

Sorry to be so long winded...just remember to set a good example for the crazy youth..and sometimes..old timers out there. Lot of discipline to drive these cars. Just my .02 cents...have a great day! Joe.

I clearly stated i DO NOT STREET RACE. I personally feel it's not worth the risk. However i'm 33 now, If i had this car at 16, I'd be taking on everything that moves. In our area they try to keep street racing down by having inexpensive T&T at the dragstrip.

Most of those younger kids getting hurt don't have fast cars, they just think their indestructable, as we all did at that age.

This is BS, if the stat is working properly (and not stuck closed) all it does is regulate the MINIMUM operating temperature and speeds engine warmup. When it's fully open it's open, nothing else. If you have cooling problems the system is not up to par, either too low cooling capacity or the cooler is clogged, debris is keeping air from flowing through it, something is wrong with the air dam, the pump is shot...yadda yadda..or something like incorrect timing, excessively lean mixtures and so on.

Apparently my misunderstanding. sorry.

Twin..their having problems with too good of a cooling system. My friend had the same problem with his Chevelle the other night. He can't run a thermostat , his intake has a restricter there. Car wouldn't go over 140...i was teasing him and told him he needs cardboard.

A larger WP pulley and smaller crank pulley may just do the trick
