*PICS* - Finished Product - Yea Right!
http://www.horowitz-family.com/galle...orvette?page=1
Ok – I know it’s not “finished” but finished for now!
Going to have it dyno’d next month to get a baseline with my cam and headers.
Next year I hope to be able to add an aluminum radiator/electric fan(s)/MSD aluminum heads and upgrade the intake and carb (probably a more compatible cam too depending on the other stuff) – my goal is to squeeze 425 HP out of her and hopefully at least 325rwhp – Hopefully that’s do-able.
The paint is definitely a 5-10 footer but at least I can drive it and not care about a rock jumpin’ up…
Maybe in the next 5 years I can get it painted and get a 5 speed but like I said for now its done with only plans for some more power next year…
Anyway – enjoy the gallery and thanks to all the great advice on this forum which helped me solve a ton of issues along the way!
Mike
New sig pic as well…!
Oh - also for those that have asked this question - my P.O.S. AstroTop slides easily over the wheelwells, Sub and amp...
-Ask me about fluid pressure issues in installing steeroids WITH the Hydro boost brakes - I have some good info
The Brakes are AMAZING now (did SS lines and slotted HD Rotors too)
The steering while not perfect is a VAST improvement as well. No more dead spot!

1. Eddie - I will measure tonight for you but not sure what your tolerances are in the vert as compared to my coupe...
The wheels - my favorite all time wheel - I had to have them and it was a pita getting the right tires on front - had to go 235s to not rub!
2. Michael - the door locks - very important - use good quality actuators - mine are DEI (the creator of this idea used Bosch) I got them at a local shop b/c the original ones I ordered in a PDL Kit were crap.
Also both the inside(lower) and outside(upper) door lock mechanisms must be in very good working order or the actuators will cycle.

As far as the steering/brake combo - think of it like this.
The Stock PS Pump alone is too much for Steeroids. They recommend their pump for this reason. BUT when you add the hydroboost, you actually need more flow!
So basically talking to Paul at hydroboost and also with other forum members, I learned that you actually need to drill the pump orifice in the stock pump bigger to allow the flow needed by both the rack and the hydrobooster. This worked perfectly and if you send me your email, I can attach some files that will spell everything out for you!
I swear the brakes stop better then my 95 Lexus and like I said in the post - the steering made a huge difference in driveability as well! I highly recommend both!
Mike
Randy - if you talk to Paul - he will talk your ear off - awesome guy!
I like the C5 seats. What did you have to do to use them? I have 78-82 seats in my 69 'vert and am 6' tall. My head is very close to the top bows, I can't wear a cap.
Mark - Im only 5'9" and they sit pretty high for me so it would be a risk.
The problem is that there is so much more back support that seat back ittself sticks out an inch and a half more than the stock seat so you are already that much closer to the wheel...You need tilt tele if you try it
I used Tyler Townsley's instructions and they worked great except that the "cuts" for the front power mechanism needed to be a little bigger than he describes.

Man - I love all these questions! It just goes to show you what a wealth of knowledge this forum is! I got almost all of my ideas and info to make them happen from this forum!
That was a lot of work. Thanks for keeping tabs on the project with the photos.I like the hydroboost and is that an Alpine I see in there??? How do you like it??

Thanks!
Alpine Head Unit - CDA 9827 - I like it very much but to be honest with you I really only chose it b/c of the Blue LEDs - imagine that!
