Default Parade / Homecoming Use

How many have used their cars for attendants at homecomings or in parades and how did you let the girl sit on your car. They have asked me to drive my 71 and I have a t top and was needing some information on how best to do it, I don't want the girl or the car hurt.

The only truly safe way is to put the girl on your lap and hold on tight.

Say yes! Make sure your radiator and cooling system is in great operating order, because cooling will be your biggest problem at slow and idle speeds. Fall weather will help this problem.

Interior-wise, the ladies usually stand in the passenger seat and lean their posteriors back against the t-top opening frame. As long as the majority of their weight is on their feet on the seat, there should be no problem. They can use their left hand to balance on the t-bar (the right one will probably be waving, or visaversa). They should be advised to slip off their high heels and stand bare foot (sans shoes) on the seat, and have their escorts help them put the shoes back on when they disembarke the car. You can put a couple of thick towels on the seat pad, or perhaps a sqaure wooden board wrapped in towels for a more stable perch.

And by the way, make sure you, lucky driver, smile just as soon as you start the car, or before, until way after you park it.

My Vette was used to carry the Mayor and one of his henchmen around for the Christmas parade. The local Corvette club was asked to provide parade vehicles for the local politicians to ride on and we obliged. The weather is not bad here at that time of year so it was no problem taking the T-tops off. He sat on a folded towel and straddled the center section.

The funny part for me at least was the guy that prepared all the car door signs for our Corvette club members to wear for the parade. They went to a lot of trouble to print signs, laminate them and attach flexible magnetic strips on the backside to hold them on the cars. -LOL!

This is truly a concern with the ever increasing girth of today's women. However, since you have a t-top, you should be OK. I'd also say...no high-heels on the seat!

I've had my 69 conv in homecoming parades about 15 times or so.

I never had any problem with the girls just sitting on the rear deck, with a towel or something under them.
