Default Trailing arm.

Due to pressure of work I have not been able to start on the Vette yet.

So all the new suspension bushes, steering items etc are still in the boxes.

The main problem driving home was the steering. Accelerate or brake and the car would lurch to either side - so it helped to stay in the middle lane and not do anything while other cars were around.

Must say the lurching was considerable - could take up all 3 lanes of the motorway if you did not correct very quickly.

However, before I bought it I did notice a considerable clunk coming fron the driverside rear wheel - guessed it might be a bearing or driveshaft.

Now I am wondering if the trailing arm is faulty - and if so - would it produce the above symptoms ??

Trailing arm specialists - your thoughts please

I dropped an alignment shim out of my trailing arm once and when I would excelerate or brake the arm would move on it's bolt.
It gave a lope and then lurched the car to one side or the other.
I went straight home and felt good when I got there.

Sounds like it could be many things in the rear suspension.
worn side yokes, worn/missing strut rod bushings, loose trailing arm

You gotta get under there and start shaking things up - and look where the movement is.

Dont rule out the brakes. I had a caliper that was not letting go and I would get exactly what you described. Car pulled rt during power then shot left when I hit the brakes. I replaced the Hoses with braided stainless lines and all is well.
