Default WTFFFFFFFKKK!! Oil pressure sending unit

So I changed from the stock oil pressure gauge to the Auto meter gauge. Gauge was reading pressure at 100 psi so I replaced the stock sending unit with the one that came with the Auto meter gauge and now the oil pressure is reading 0 to maybe 3 psi????? What the fk!, it's only one wire????

I'll bet you are using the electric gauge, right? I had the same problem. I ended up using a sender hole down by the filter for the pressure gauge, and the one up top where the original sender was for the oil temp.

I think that's the only place it will read correctly being an electric sender and all. I think a mechanical gauge sender will operate correctly, but I decided not to use mech. as I didn't want hot oil in the pass. compartment, in case it ruptured!

If you are in fact using the mech. gauge though, I would bet there is a kink in your line somewhere.

if your old electric gauge was screwy and your new set is screwy may be the wire is shorting out some where between the gauge and the sender??????????

Electric gauge and it is located right above the oil filter. I think maybe I don't have a good ground. Checking that now. Thanks

OK. I'm an idiot and have to do everything twice. The problem was that the positive going to the sending unit was not making a good contact.
Now it is and the gauge is working properly. Thanks to those who gave suggestions.
